Altinote hilaris, found at Quebrada Cugusha, and seen later in the rio Paute valley, is not a common sight in Sangay NP.


these specimens are, on the HWUN, completely different from the type of hilaris hilaris (see new facts page), and clearly belong to an undescribed ssp.


on the upperside females are extremely variable.
