wingspan : 65/70 mm

Mimoides xeniades xeniades flies on the Eastern slopes of the Andes, between 700 and 1500 meters (Bollino & Onore 2001), in Colombia and in Ecuador.

females are difficult to see, while males are rather common. the female, black and white, is clearly different from any other butterfly, except that it looks like the female of Parides erithtalion lacydes ; these two females, although belonging to two different genuses, are nearly identical, and fly together.

in Sangay NP we saw several Mimoides xeniades near Rio Negro, and some more near 9 de Octubre and West of Sucúa.
