in Sangay NP we have Altopedaliodes nucea and Altopedaliodes tena which, until 1999, were thought to be two subspecies of Altopedaliodes tena, the distribution of which was :
- A. t. tena, from the North down to, at least, Atillo, Osogoche and Cubillin,
- A. t. nucea, in the South, near las Culebrillas.
we found A. tena at laguna Osogoche, at Atillo and Alao.
Altopedaliodes tena is a variable species
