we found these Mechanitis (male) near Puyo ; we were told they would be a new undescribed messenoides ssp, which theoretically flies in Northern Peru and Southern Ecuador.
but, as they fly with M. m. deceptus and M. m. messenoides, we provisionally present them as a form of messenoides deceptus so as not to have a third sympatric ssp, but they could be something quite different...
