Male

wingspan : 36 mm

Mesosemia philocles limbata seems to be exceedingly rare ; after tens of years we only saw three specimens : one in Peru, and two by rio Pastaza at an elevation of 900 meters, the first one collected near Palora, the second one, (very poorly) photographed near Mera. on his side David Ahrenholz told us he saw one near Sucúa.

we do not know wether limbata should be considered a subspecies of philocles, or a rare form of jeziela ?
