Elzunia humboldt is not scarce, but very localized.


we saw two specimens near Rio Negro, quite a few along rio Paute and more at Quebrada Cugusha, all between 1700 and 2000 meters.


these specimens collected between the Macas-Atillo road and the rio Paute valley are ssp cassandrina ; this subspecies seems to fly exclusively in this area.
